These are Ron's montana edge beveler.
They are for thin leather. Each tools are hand made.
Wood handle is extremely hardwood called "Coco-bolo"
Steel they are using is unknown. I am pretty sure it's their business secret.
you can use sandpaper to knock the edge down or make your own tool.
Edge bevelers are tool that cut out the sharp edge of the leather.
These are Ron's Montana Edger No.1(Finest) and No.2
There are many companies but Ron's edger is one the best edgers I ever used.
To tell you the truth, The fit and finish on the ferrule is not good. When I received them, the part where the steel and wood and brass meet looked like this : / --
which supposed to be loook like this :ㅣ--
so, I filed down that part so now it's straight.
Cocobolo is very dense oily wood.
It is cherry color and turn dark with age.
it is oily so, you don't have to maintain the wood.

There are other edge beveler from Japanese leather craft company such as Craft or Kyoshin Elle.
They are as just as fine.
The difference is how often you have to sharpen them and
of it cleanly cuts.
Japanese edge beveler is good enough for any of leather works.
There are two types of Ron's edge beveler
Montana Edger - for Thin leather. it has small tip so when you edge the leather, it doesn't get in contact with the working desk.
Round Edge Edger - for Normal leather. Wider tip. suitable for saddle making.
I make small leather goods so I bought Montana Edger.
